the gateway
This is that gate ("torii") that appears so often on any publicity material about Japan. And no wonder, it is an impressive thing to behold. It sits in the sea just off the shore of Miyajima island near Hiroshima. It was built as the main approach to Itsukushima shrine.
At ebb tide it stands free of water and you can walk right up to it. At high tide, tourist boats sail underneath it.

First light on the water
Minutes before sunrise, the skies glow in a morning version of twilight, to illuminate the reflection of Mona Vale's glassy tidal pool.
We had a great shoot this morning - make sure you check out my friend's photos: Oat, Daniel, Kong.
WOW! I made the front page of EXPLORE! Click HERE for a screenshot.

Moonlight Lighthouse
Looking out onto Dalkey Island on the southcoast of Dublin on a clear moonlit night.
In the distance beyond this are the Muglins, which were a graveyard for many a ship, hence the lighthouse.
